Despite the fact that the legal framework favours it, cross-border mediation is not easy in Europe. An extreme diversity of approaches exists today towards the consensual dispute resolution process. Those approaches are based on specific local experiences and traditions. How can these dissimilarities be tackled by one single mediator, specially when she or he comes from overseas?

No matter whether you are mediating in common law countries where mediation has a long tradition or in the southern hot-tempered Mediterranean countries, you can find clues from the rich and inspiring European cultures to help you overcome apparent challenges.

In this interactive seminar, Dr. Svatos will review different chapters of European culture that can help us overcome the most difficult mediation challenges. From the ancient Greek legends to Winnie-the-Pooh, he will look for inspiration to overcome impasses, shape opening statements and win parties’ trust.
